In-Person Worship Communication

Returning to Worship

August 6, 2020

Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Fairport, NY resumed in-person worship on Sunday, July 5, 2020 with both the Traditional (8:00 am) and Contemporary (10:30 am) services.  Much prayer, thought, and preparation has gone into this decision, especially regarding the health and safety of the Congregation as well as clergy, staff and the numerous ministry volunteers involved in coordinating a meaningful, inspiring worship experience.

Health and Safety Guidelines

We will be adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) in effect on June 26, 2020.  Going forward, should these guidelines change, future services will be altered as necessary.  For the initial reopening service, the governing parameters are:

Social Distancing: Remain six (6) feet apart from others

          Face masks are strongly recommended

Please refrain from physical contact of any kind

Congregation Responsibilities

DO NOT ATTEND if you are feeling ill, have a temperature, have been exposed to COVID-19, have a compromised immune system or are at risk of exposing others.  You are welcome to participate in our worship service online on the Risen Christ Church-Fairport, New York Facebook page at

The Worship Service

Music:  Traditional Service will have an organist.  We ask for no congregational singing as it produces up to 10 times the number of water droplets as conversational speaking.

Contemporary Service will have Praise Band performing without masks.  They will be on the altar/stage area at least 12 feet from the closest chair grouping and 6 feet apart from each other.

Offering to be collected in the offering plate on a table near the sanctuary entrance doors.  We will not pass the plate for tithe and offering collection.

Prayer Requests may be submitted to Deacon Al Boezi or Secretary Linda Brombacher.  Our prayer list may be found online at

Communion will be served in a continuous flow.  Ushers will direct family groups to line up at 6 foot intervals in the center aisle.  The people serving communion will use masks.  The Altar Guild follows safety guidelines when preparing communion.  Please follow these steps when receiving communion.

1. Remove mask at hand sanitizing station in center aisle

2. Sanitize hands.

3. Receive wafer.

4. Proceed to table and pick up communion wine cup.

5. Dispose of cup in receptacle.

6. Replace mask and return to seat.

After the Service

Please exit the church maintaining 6 feet of social distancing and keeping safety guidelines in mind.

Great care is being taken with the above resources and precautions, so that we are able to begin gathering again as a congregation.  At the same time, your individual thoughts and personal position on health and safety are respected.  We honor your decision if it is to not return to in-person worship at this time.

Online services will continue to be offered.  We are sensitive to the concerns of families regarding online streaming, therefore, congregational members outside of officiants, assistants, and the praise band will not be included within camera framing.

I Corinthians 12:25b-27 states “All of them will take care of one another. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.  If one part is honored, every part shares in its joy.  27 You are the body of Christ. Each one of you is a part of it.”  Whether we are together in person, or in our separate homes worshiping together online, we are the body of Christ, working together to bring Him glory.
